COSATU welcomes the announcement by the City of Cape Town to work with the minstrels to restore their historical role in and traditions in the City. This is a victory for the minstrels over the high handedness of the Zille regime, and shows that De Lille has the interests of the community at heart.

The white cabal under Zille had shown disdain for the minstrels and De Lille has shown what leadership and empathy means for the City. COSATU will continue to support the minstrels until they have restored their rights to their cultural practices in the City.

We look forward to enjoying the Minstrels this year and call on them to unite in this new climate of cooperation.
