DA sinks ANC in Cederberg, retains and grows in two other wards

28 August 2024

The DA is pleased to announce that we have won all three by-elections that took place today in the City of Cape Town Ward 58, Cederberg Ward 2 and Stellenbosch Ward 17 respectively.

The DA’s triumph in Cederberg illustrates the frustration voters had with the ANC’s lack of service delivery and empty promises. It is evident that voters opted for a party that has a proven track record of good governance.

City of Cape Town Ward 58 and Stellenbosch Ward 17 are both retained with significant growth.

The results are as follows:

- Ward 2, Cederberg grew from 15.96% in 2021 to 40.58% in 2024;
- Ward 17, Stellenbosch grew from 74.81% in 2021 to 96.28% in 2024 and;
- Ward 58, Cape Town grew from 84.44% in 2021 to 98.32% in 2024

We have full confidence in the ability of our newly elected councillors Yves Blaauw (Ward 2, Cederberg), Jeremy Fasser (Ward 17, Stellenbosch) and Dr Richard Hill (Ward 58, City of Cape Town) to work with and implement the DA’s mandate to fight for clean governance and quality service delivery in their respective wards.

We thank all residents who voted for us and helped the DA claim victory.
