Tenderpreneurs trying to hijack the ANC – ECape SACP

Suspension of Buffalo City manager part of a witch hunt, party says

Unite and defeat greedy tenderpreneurs who masquerades as leaders

The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Eastern Cape Province notes the suspension of the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) City Manager, Andile Fani with great concern. We have observed how he has been pursued for more than two years for his only crime: stabilising the municipality – the improvement since his arrival has been recognised by both the Auditor General (AG) and the Department of Co-operative Government and Traditional Affairs (COGTA). The financial position of the municipality and capital expenditure have improved.

We also know that at the heart of this perpetual witch-hunt is a syndicate determined to loot the municipality and highjack the African National Congress (ANC) to pursue selfish ends. It is in this context that we are calling upon the workers to be calm and not enter into illegal activities that may lead them into victimisation if they fail to follow due processes for any disputes. The workers and the people as a whole must exercise vigilance as the syndicates will gravitate towards brutality, if not already there.

We also know, as the SACP, that the people and the truth are on our side; for we have always been on their side. We have warned more than a year ago of the dangers coming from efforts by greedy and ruthless tenderpreneurs masquerading in the name of the ANC with an agenda to capture public institutions to feed their conspicuous consumption and crass materialism.

It is worth noting that there are still vacancies of Executive Directors in critical service delivery areas in the municipality. This due to blatant interference that knows no boundaries, let alone the concern for the people. Their only interest has always been filling their pockets at all cost.

We commit ourselves to work with all progressive forces to defeat this agenda as it poses a danger to all our alliance formations. The worst result of this ugly agenda is the delay in providing services to the people as all energies are focused on one individual for executing his duties as an Accounting Officer.

We call for the unity of the people and the workers in BCMM with the full knowledge that victory will always be on the side of unified people.
